Perhaps the rarest Melanie Taylor Kent collectible piece in the world . Melanie Taylor Kent's electric "Main Street Electric Parade" is a Disney licensed edition of only 75 pieces.

I've seen examples of the electric print, as you have, being offered for as much as $35,000 ($20,000 to $30,000 would be a suitable retail replacement value for insurance purposes.

As Disney Showcase writes, "The setting for the “Main Street Electrical Parade” is Main Street Disneyland, with Sleeping Beauty Castle majestically rising in the background. Melanie has portrayed Main Street in a very unique way – there is no ground and there is no sky. Where the ground would normally be in a mirror-like reflection reaching towards the limitless universe. This is intended to be symbolic of one’s imagination which Melanie hopes is without bounds. Melanie was inspired by the thoughts of Walt Disney: “If you never stop imagining, the magic will never end.”

Mickey Mouse with his special powers as the “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” brings life to the “Main Street Electrical Parade” with a dazzling jetstream of light. Mickey is perched on Elliott, the magical dragon from the Disney movie “Pete’s Dragon”.

Below Elliott is Captain Hook’s Pirate Ship, with Captain Hook standing on the bow. Little does he know that the crocodile is patiently waiting for another tasty morsel, while Smee tries in vain to warn Captain Hook. Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael sail through the sky beneath the pirate ship. If you look real hard, you might even be able to see Tinker Bell. To the right of the pirate ship, from the immortal classic “The Jungle Book”, Mowgli and his chimpanzee friend have come to take a look at the parade.

In the foreground is Cinderella and her prince dancing in a glittering crystal carriage. The Fairy Godmother has just used her magic wand to transform Cinderella’s mice friends into two magnificent white horses and her faithful barnyard horse into a dashing coachman.

Alice in Wonderland is about to join the Mad Hatter and March Hare at a tea party as she rides astride a giant mushroom. The White Rabbit, as always, is late while the Queen may be looking for her next croquet game. Do you see the Chesire Cat?

Near the middle of the image is the Blue Fairy from “Pinocchio” in a radiant array of colors. She is surrounded by Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Geppeto, Cleo and Figaro.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs march out of the castle and across the bridge to join the Electrical Parade. In the circus calliope is the Prince John from “Robin Hood”.

From the castle wall, Ariel (The Little Mermaid), with her friends Sebastian and Flounder, watch the parade. The Casey Jr. Circus Train is at the end of Mickey’s Jetstream, with the bass drum displaying the title of the parade. Above the circus train is a float with the United States flag and American Eagle with the words “To Honor America”.

High in the air atop a tree you can find Dumbo with Timothy Mouse in his hat. They are reenacting the famous scene in which the crows are trying to push a reluctant Dumbo off a branch of the tree so he can fly to the ground. Below Dumbo, Goofy is the engineer of Casey Jr.

SPECIFICATIONS ABOUT THE MAIN STREET ELECTRICAL PARADE

The Special Edition of the “Main Street Electrical Parade” portrays what many people consider to be Disney’s most popular attraction in a never before seen combination of a 180 color original serigraph, a dazzling display of lights, and the captivating theme music of the “Electrical Parade”.

While the serigraph itself is spectacular, Melanie wanted to create something totally unique which would truly make the collector feel as if he were experiencing the magic and enchantment of the “Electrical Parade” for the first time on the sidewalk of Disneyland. Melanie’s concept was to use a system of hundreds of fiber optic lights to illuminate the floats of the “Electrical Parade” and buildings along Main Street. The effect is breathtaking. In addition, each Special Edition, which comes fully framed, has a stereo system which will play the “Electrical Parade” theme. It should be noted that the music is totally in sync with the light show.

The Walt Disney Company authorized the production of only 75 pieces. This Special Edition was manufactured in 1992. This particular item is number 9 of 75 and signed by Melanie Taylor Kent.

The Special Edition has more than 1800 fiber optic strands, each of which are placed in position by hand. The musical program and light show is approximately four and one half minutes long, including the spectacular grand finale."
