The Children of America Stories, Little John of New England Author: Madeline Brandeis Illustrator:   Madeline Brandeis Publisher: Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1936. Condition:  HC – very good.  DJ – poor.  It has paper illustrated boards with a blue cloth spine.  Boards have very light soiling and rubbing to the edges and corners.  The spine head and tail have moderate rubbing with some tanning.  The front paste-down has an inscription written in pencil, but there are no other marks in the book.  There is some tanning to the pages and a few small areas of soiling.  I found one very small closed tear.  The binding is tight.  The end-papers are illustrated with a simple map of the New England area.  This is a photo storybook with black and white pictures taken by the author of people and places of New England.  It includes landmark pictures such as the House of Seven Gables and the Witch Jail in Salem, Massachusetts, and the Old Doughnut Tree in Fryeburg, Maine.  The book measures about 8 ¾ x 6 ¾ inches and has 156 pages.  The dust jacket has tears, chips and creasings but is fairly clean.  There is no price clipping.  There’s a faint pencil mark on the front flap.  It advertises Carmen of the Golden Coast on the back flap and lists 13 Children of All Lands Stories and 4 Children of America Stories on the back of the jacket. Please view my photos and read my shipping notes.  Thanks!  Shipping: If you purchase multiple items, please wait for an invoice before paying, as I am happy to combine shipping to save you money.  If you have any questions about shipping or the item listing, please email me through eBay before purchasing. At this time, I do not ship international. I am happy to work with you to make your experience a good one.      I specialize in vintage and antique children's books, as well as Caldecott and Newberry award children’s books. However, I do sell other items not in this category from time to time. All items will be shipped as economically as possible without jeopardizing the quality of the item. I ship most books by USPS Media Mail unless another method is requested by the buyer. This will take 2 to 8 business days to be delivered and comes with a  tracking number. Before shipping, I wrap all books in plastic or place in an archival plastic sleeve. If the book is less than 1 inch thick, I usually ship in a bubble mailer and the book will be sandwiched between cardboard to protect its edges. If the book is over 1 inch thick, I usually ship in a box. Bubble wrap and other materials will be used to prevent any further bumping or rubbing of the book boards. If the listing is for something other than a book, the same care will be taken to ensure that it arrives to you in its original condition. These items will usually be shipped by USPS First Class or Priority Mail. Thanks for looking!
