The De-Pilling Stone is made of a very porous rock material, that cuts the


fuzz & pills from the surface of the fabrics, as you glide or scuff, the stone across the top of the fabric.

Note...  'Each Regular Size stone is about the size of a bar of soap, 

approx:  2 1/2" x 3 1/2”

* I hold it at an angle and lightly scuff it across the top of the sweater to pick up the pills, as I hold the garment in place with my other hand *

If you don't like the feel of the stone,  you can leave half of the wrapper on and tape in place.

does this one compare in size, weight, effectiveness, longevity, etc?

I

don't have experience with the sweater stone you mention. I teach a

knitting class and we use these on our hand-knit items, as well as

our personal clothing. We used to be able to purchase these from our local Dry Cleaners... but because we were buying so many,  they stopped selling them to us.  This is why I buy, and cut them from the raw material... it started out by my filling our own needs.  As to shipping... I pack well, but I don't send them out in fancy labeled boxes, I try to keep all mailing costs low.   The stones are nice because there are no batteries to replace... you just have to remember where you put them... they are so handy you may easily forget where you used it last!


Additional...


I recently started using my stones on our upholstered furniture as well as on our clothing!  With care,  they do a great job of removing the lint, pills & kitty fuzz!


The volcanic rock type product I cut these from do vary

from one order to another... like any other natural stone or rock

material. Some are a little finer grain, some may be a little

heavier... etc. I have (3) stones in use most of the time, in

different rooms as I need them. They hold up well. With the light

touch that is recommended... I find they last a long, long time. They

don't crumble, but do shed somewhat as you use them. With any of the

de-pilling stones, if you press too hard, you will put holes in your

garment, so a careful glide or scuff across the pilling area will cut the

pills & fuzz. We use them on most all sweater knits, woven pants & Jackets etc. 


Note: I do not recommend using the stone on certain type fabrics such as

single knit swimwear, or silky like undergarment materials, as snagging may occur.
